LED Street Lights Reduce Cost, Improve Visibility

The town is expected to complete the conversion by the end of the month.

Looking to save money and help the environment, the town of Bedford is finishing converting its remaining street lights to LED bulbs.

The town has already converted just more than half of its 1,500 street lights and is expected to finish the remaining 700 by the end of the month.

The conversion program, funded by a $130,000 Green Communities Competitive Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, has a three-fold goal — to reduce energy with the more efficient bulbs, save money on energy use and improve visibility at night.
