Local Officers, Firefighters Save Swans from Icy Grave

Bedford Police officers joined local firefighters and Bellerica Aninal Control officers to save some feathered friends trapped in an icy pond.

Attached to a lifeline on shore, two rescue workers ventured out onto Fawn Lake, and even into the icy water, to save a family of swans that had been trapped in the freezing lake Wednesday morning. Rescuers saved two baby swans, known as sygnets, but unfortunately, on perished, fox25.com reported.

The parents remained safely on the water.
