Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrants, a Stolen License Plate, Woman Sitting on Sign on Rte. 3 and More

BEDFORD, MA - The following is a sampling of log entries provided by the Bedford Police Department. Where mentioned, an arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Friday, April 8
10:19 a.m. - Report of two suspicious people parked in front of a home on Orchard Road for more than 30 minutes. The elderly man and woman had come to a resident’s door with religious brochures. Resident thought they seemed nice but was concerned they were in the area for more than 30 minutes later. Officer was dispatched and spoke to the individuals who were handing out pamphlets from a church. That information was relayed to the reporting resident.
2:39 p.m. - Police received a call from Olde Bedford Package Store reporting a larceny of a license plate. Officer dispatched.

10:04 p.m. - Resident requests officers check on the well being of a male party who may be intoxicated and is sitting on a stone wall on The Great Road across from 227. Officers dispatched located the individual, identified as Paul Cahill, 42, of Bedford who was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants from Cambridge, Taunton, Newburyport and Lawrence District courts.
Saturday, April 9
11:17 a.m. - Bank employee Sonja Larock reports there is a black backpack left in their lot at 181 The Great Road. Officer dispatched reports the backpack belongs to a child. He delivered it to the owner.

11:50 a.m. - Cell phone caller reports motor vehicle crash with injury involving a car and a pedestrian at 24 Page Road.
1:13 p.m. - State Police Concord requested assistance from Bedford police and fire for a female party who is on Rte. 3 northbound sitting on the sign for Exit 26 Rte. 62. Officer and paramedics dispatched. State Police called back to report they had not located a female sitting on a sign at that location. They are continuing to check the area.
4:39 p.m. - Resident reports her friend's purse has been stolen at T.J. Maxx, 297 The Great Road. Caller is standing in doorway while her friend is looking in the store for the person who has her purse. Officer dispatched and spoke to both women. The missing woman’s purse was located in the store and there was nothing missing.
10:16 p.m. - A South Road resident reports odor of natural gas in the home. All four4 residents are now outside. Officer dispatched and fire department also responded. Fire Department reports the levels were checked and there were no readings, all clear.
