Starting July 1, 2021 the Public Works Department will be cutting back brush and other vegetation within the public right of way throughout the Town. The purpose is to maintain safe access to Town sidewalks and roadways per our Town’s General Bylaws. The area of cutting may extend to the edge of the public right of way. Any vegetation overhanging a sidewalk or road will be trimmed using a large flail mower attached to an excavator. Note that this type of trimming will not produce a manicured finish to the vegetation. Please be aware that the public right of way in many streets could extend 6 to 8 feet beyond the edge of the street.

If you would like to perform your own trimming, please email the Town at brushclearing@bedfordma.gov with the Subject line: “Opt-Out Brush clearing” on or before July 1, 2021, and provide your name, contact and address. Please complete the trimming by September 1, 2021, or the Town will need to return for trimming. Please remove any vegetation on sidewalks that you have cut. Vegetation can be brought to the Compost Center at 108 Carlisle Road during its regular hours.
