Trails Through Fawn Lake Project In Bedford Closed

The trails are closed at all hours due to cables, uneven ground, loose materials and heavy equipment.

BEDFORD, MA — Bedford's Fawn Lake project is making progress, but in the meantime, the town is asking residents to stay away from the trails that pass through the project.

The town contractor, Dredgit, has made significant progress this week erecting and connecting the several pieces of equipment needed for the dredge operation at Fawn Lake. The work includes hydraulic wet dredging of the bottom sediments to restore the lake to approximately eight-feet deep. The material is pumped from the dredge barge to a de-watering system. Once the material is dried, it will be transported to a residuals holding area and then hauled off-site to a nearby compost facility for eventual reuse as loam.

The trails through both worksites will be closed until work is completed.

The cables, uneven ground, loose materials and heavy equipment make the areas unsafe for the public. There are alternate trails which provide pedestrian access around Fawn Lake without having to cross through the two construction zones.
