Belmont Fire Dept. Reminds Residents To Clear Hydrants Of Snow
Clearing the hydrants is an easy way to save first responders time in an emergency.

BELMONT, MA — The Belmont Fire Department is reminding residents of simple things they can do to help first responders before an emergency happens. With the loads of snow that were dropped on the state, the department asked residents to clear snow from fire hydrants.
The department specified that about 3 feet should be cleared from all sides of the hydrant as well as a clear a pathway from the hydrant to the street.
Clearing the hydrants is an easy way to save first responders time in an emergency. "The quicker firefighters can access the hydrant, the quicker we can help everyone," the department said.
