Belmont Kids Selected For 'Rudolph' Performance

Eleven children from New England will perform the holiday classic before the Dec. 15 performance of "Rudolph" at the Shubert Theatre.

BELMONT, MA – Eleven children from Massachusetts and New Hampshire will sing the holiday classic "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" before the Dec. 15 performance of the "Rudolph" musical at the Shubert Theatre. Belmont's own Jeremiah Lakes, 6, and Malachi Smith, 9, will be among them.

The search for young carolers netted over 30 entries. Parents were asked to submit a video of their child singing the holiday classic that showcased their creativity and holiday spirit.

"We want to celebrate the spirit of this show and the holiday season by showcasing young talented singers from across our area," said Josiah A. Spaulding, Jr., president and CEO of the Boch Center, which houses the Shubert Theatre. "This ‘Singing Celebration’ gives kids an opportunity to perform one of the most iconic holiday songs before a live audience in one of Boston’s most historic theaters. We hope this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for these children."
