Belmont, Lt. Gov. Sign Community Compact
The town will implement and receive assistance from the state on self-selected "best practices."

BELMONT, MA – Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito on Tuesday signed a Community Compact agreement with officials in the town of Belmont. By entering a Community Compact, the town will implement self-selected best practices across a variety of fields for which they will receive assistance from the state.
"The Commonwealth is thrilled to announce a new partnership between state government and the town of Belmont through the Community Compact Program," Polito said in a statement. "Our administration looks forward to working with town officials to implement important best practices that will improve local government for everyone who lives and works in Belmont."
The lieutenant governor has signed more than 325 compacts with communities in Massachusetts and more applications are pending.

Through its compact, Belmont will work with the state to implement the following:
Financial Management – Financial Policies: The Commonwealth will provide Belmont with a Community Compact grant for the costs associated with developing a set of formal financial policies and practices.

Develop and utilize a Long-range Planning/Forecasting Model: The Commonwealth will provide Belmont with a Community Compact grant for the costs associated with developing a long range financial forecasting model.
The Community Compact is a voluntary agreement entered into between the Baker-Polito administration and cities and towns in Massachusetts.
