Belmont to Officially Launch Lime Dock-free Bikeshare Program
Belmont's getting dock-free bikes this week.

From LIME: Belmont will officially become part of a rapidly growing local bike share network on Thursday by joining the Lime network of Boston-area communities using the popular service. Local elected officials and Lime representatives will kick-off the program with a launch event and demo at 9 AM at Belmont Town Hall, Thursday, July 28.
The Town of Belmont views bike share as a new and exciting tool available to help advance local efforts aimed at easing traffic congestion and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The launch of the bikeshare program is timely given the Town’s recent investments in bicycle infrastructure such as dedicated bike lanes, “sharrows,” and bike racks. The Town is also advancing plans to construct the Belmont Community Path, which is the Belmont leg of the Mass Central Rail Trail.
As the largest shared bike and scooter provider in the U.S., Lime currently operates in over 70 markets, including seven other Boston-area communities. Riders find, unlock and pick up a nearby bike or scooter using their smartphone. When the ride is finished, riders simply end the ride with the Lime mobile app and responsibly park by the street curb, or at a bike rack.
