Belmont Power Restored After Nearly 3K Go Dark

BELMONT, MA — Power is back in Belmont, but this is the second night in less than a week the town was hit with a widespread power outage, leaving thousands without power on the eastern part of town.

"Our crews are continuing to determine the cause of the current outage," officials at Belmont Light tweeted Tuesday evening around 7 p.m. "We currently have about 3,000 customers out of power in the eastern part of town but are working to restore power as soon as possible."

By 8:30 p.m. power was restored to all customers. Belmont Light crews believe an underground line into one of the substations failed.
