Belmont Power Restored Saturday After Storm
Belmont has it better than many spots along the water.
BELMONT, MA — As of 7 p.m. Saturday, the day after a historic storm swept the East coast causing coastal flooding that turned roadways into waterways, downed trees, powerlines and sent much of the state into darkness without power, Belmont, at least, was back in business.
Belmont DPW and Belmont Light worked through the night to clear roads and restore the power that had gone out in town. At the height of the storm - about 10 p.m. Friday night - more than 200 were without power in town, Belmont Light tweeted out.
Around 3:45 p.m. Belmont Police blocked off part of Belmont Street as crews responded to a leaning telephone pole (check out the photos at the top).

Meanwhile thousands of people on the Cape and the Islands are still without power, with no end there in sight.
