Marathon experience: “I am on a journey to run a marathon in each of the 50 states. I just completed my 42nd marathon, 23rd state, and this will be my 15th Boston Marathon.”
Reason for running: “I ran my first race at age 6 with my father and inspiration, Fred Pizzi. My daughter Taylor followed in our footsteps, and also ran her first race when she was 6. She loves to run, too! We are three generations of runners.

“I never take being healthy for granted. I love the journey it has taken me on. It has been incredible. The Boston Marathon is my favorite. Bostonians cheer us on with everything they have, no matter the weather. I’m very excited and honored to be a part of the Boston Marathon every year. There is no place I’d rather be on April 20th.”
Training tip: “Respect the Newton Hills. It’s not that they are huge - It’s their location that makes them tough. In between each of the three hills, there are little bits of flat stretch. Use those flat stretches to regroup. Dress warm at the start, and bring clothes to toss. Write your name on your race shirt! Crowds love to scream your name.”
