Gas Prices Jump Another 8 Cents in Massachusetts

Regular unleaded in the state averages $2.25 this week. Where are the lowest prices in Belmont?

BELMONT, MA—With one of the biggest traveling weekends upon us, motorists won't be psyched to hear that gas prices have jumped again.

In Massachusetts, gasoline prices are up eight cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.

A May 23 AAA survey of prices in the state finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.25 per gallon, eight cents higher than last week. The Massachusetts price is three cents below the national average for regular unleaded. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 41 cents higher at $2.66, said AAA in an announcement.

In Belmont, the lowest price is at $2.15 per gallon at Power Plus Gas. Find the lowest gas prices in your area by searching on GasBuddy.com.

“In spite of today’s significant price spike at the pump, we’re still looking at the lowest gas prices in 11 years headed into Memorial Day weekend,” says Mary Maguire in a statement. “Take advantage of lower prices and plan a road trip.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 38 cents, from a low of $2.11 to a high of $2.49.

$2.66 ($2.43-$3.09) Premium Unleaded
