Hammond Real Estate in Belmont Exhibits Works by Artist Sallie Strand

A celebratory reception will take place on Thursday, June 11, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Belmont, Mass. (May 27, 2015) – Tod Beaty, manager of Hammond Real Estate’s Belmont office located at 84 Leonard Street, is pleased to announce that the office is currently exhibiting works by local artist Sallie Strand through August 31, 2015. A celebratory reception will take place on Thursday, June 11, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at which time the artist will be available to discuss her works which are available for purchase.

Sallie Strand began her career first as a pastry chef, and later as a dietitian. With an artist father and an interior decorator mother, she was infused with art and color from an early age. Not surprisingly, Sallie finds many similarities between baking and painting, and she often uses many food-related utensils to create textures through layering, mark making, and scraping. Though mostly self-taught, Sallie has studied with several professional artists, through Master classes and workshops. She lives and works in Watertown, with studio space in Somerville at 86 Joy Street.

Hammond Real Estate has made the visual and performing arts the primary focus of its corporate philanthropy. “We believe in giving back to the communities that we serve through free events focused on the many local artists who make our community an exciting and vibrant place to live,” stated Tod Beaty. “In addition to our fine arts exhibits, we also support well-known community organizations such as the Foundation for Belmont Education, the Belmont Food Pantry, the Arsenal Center for the Arts, and Belmont Youth Hockey.”
