Milestones Day School hosts "Legislator Day"
School administration was joined by incoming maaps Executive Director, Elizabeth Dello Russo Becker, and outgoing maaps ED, James V. Major.
On Friday, March 15, Milestones Day School and the Massachusetts Association of 766 Approved Private Schools (maaps) hosted an "Invite Your Legislator to School" day to increase awareness around issues facing special education schools across the Commonwealth. In attendance were Massachusetts State Senator Michael Rush and State Representatives Kay Khan and Paul McMurtry.
Students attending maaps member schools, like Milestones in Waltham, often have learning difficulties, physical, socio-emotional, and/or medically complex challenges that cannot be met by traditional public schools. This session, maaps has introduced or sponsored six separate bills related to special education funding, tuition rates, background checks, and licensing from the Department of Early Education and Care.
