Severe Thunderstorms Tuesday Afternoon into Evening

If you have outdoor plans Tuesday afternoon and evening, keep a close eye on the sky and stay up to date with the latest forecast for your area.

A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

While the main potential for this activity is to the northwest of Boston to the Providence line, the highest risk exists across western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service.

The main risk with any strong to severe thunderstorm will be isolated, damaging wind gusts and hail the size of quarters. Dangerous cloud to ground lightning and locally heavy rainfall may result in poor drainage street flooding.

The National Weather Service reminds residents when you hear thunder you are close enough to get struck by lightning and should seek an inside shelter immediately.
