1.3 Million Expected To Vote At Polls Election Day
Secretary of State William Galvin said he expects the total number of ballots cast this election to set a record.
Some 1.3 million Massachusetts residents are expected to vote at the polls on Election Day, a number that combined with early voting and still-rising mail-in ballots would be a record turnout, Secretary of State William Galvin said.
Galvin told reporters Monday morning he expects turnout to total about 3.6 million. There have already been some 2.3 million ballots cast.
The turnout, while potentially historic, will be "orderly," Galvin said. There will be a police officer at every polling location.

"We will insist on order," he said. "If, in fact, there is any effort to disrupt the polls tomorrow by any means ... we will insist that law enforcement take action immediately to make sure the polls remain accessible."
Galvin also said he expects the results will be known by the end of the night. There are about 240,000 mail-in ballots still outstanding, but that number should soon decline significantly, he said.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m Tuesday.
Galvin began his press conference by calling comments made by President Trump casting doubt on the election process as "appalling, disturbing and really criminal."
