13 Massachusetts Residents Make Forbes's Richest List
Fidelity CEO Abigail Johnson checked in at 34th on the list, making her the richest Massachusetts resident, according to Forbes.

BOSTON — Forbes estimates that Fidelity CEO Abigail Johnson has a net worth of $15 billion, making her the richest Massachusetts resident and twice as rich as any other Bay Stater.
Forbes released its 2020 Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans Tuesday, and 13 Massachusetts billionaires made the cut. Johnson was ranked 34th.
The Forbes 400 has four more Massachusetts entries than last year.

Jim Koch, who founded Samuel Adams beer, and Valentin Gapontsev, who founded IPG Photonics, are new to the list. Steve Conine and Niraj Shah, co-founders of Wayfair, returned to the list.
Amazon's Jeff Bezos leads the list with a net worth of $179 billion. Microsoft's Bill Gates is second at $111 billion and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg is third at $85 billion.

President Donald Trump landed at No. 339 following a $600 million loss in net worth, Forbes said. He's still worth $2.5 billion.
Boston Red Sox owner John Henry is No. 299 on the list; he's considered a Florida resident.
The rest of the Massachusetts residents on the list, with their ranking and net worth, are listed below:
72. Edward Johnson III, $7.4 billion: The father of Abigail Johnson and the son of Fidelity's founder. Johnson was Fidelity's CEO before handing over the reigns to his daughter.
85. Jim Davis and family, $6.9 billion: Davis chairs New Balance, and his family owns 95 percent of the company.
93. Robert Kraft, $6.6 billion: After six Super Bowl titles, Kraft's New England Patriots are worth an estimated $4.1 billion.
181. Alan Trefler, $4.1 billion: Trefler took a huge jump in this year's list, moving up from 306th last year. In 1983, he founded Pegasystems, which now has annual sales of more than $900 million.
228. Amos Hostetter Jr., $3.5 billion: Hostetter sold Continental Cablevision for $11 billion in 1996, according to Forbes, and now runs the Barr Foundation. The magazine gave him the highest philanthropy score of any Massachusetts resident.
228. Edward Johnson IV, $3.5 billion: Johnson is the grandson of Fidelity's founder and president of Pembroke Real Estate, a unit of Fidelity.
238. Elizabeth Johnson, $3.4 billion: She is the Fidelity CEO's sister and runs a stable of show jumping horses in Florida.
299. John Henry, $2.8 billion: Technically, Forbes considers Henry a Florida resident. But he's well-known in Massachusetts as the owner of the Boston Red Sox and The Boston Globe.
299. Steve Conine, $2.8 billion: Conine is co-chairman of Wayfair, which he co-founded with Niraj Shah in 2002.
299. Niraj Shah, $2.8 billion: Shah serves as Wayfair's CEO.
327. Jim Koch, $2.6 billion: This year was the first time Koch made the Forbes list. He founded and still owns 26 percent of the Boston Beer Company.
359. Valentin Gapontsev and family, $2.3 billion: Gapontsev is also on the list for the first time this year. He founded IPG Photonics, which makes high-end fiber-optic lasers.
378. Phillip T. (Terry) Ragon, $2.2 billion: The founder of InterSystems still owns the company, which makes software for hospitals and banks.
