2020 Election Results: Boston's Ranked-Choice Support Not Enough
Nearly 275,000 residents made their voices heard in the election. Question 2 was by far the closest race on the ballot.

BOSTON — Nearly 275,000 ballots were cast over the past two weeks, an overwhelming amount of which went to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Boston's unofficial election results had 274,344 votes cast overall, a number expected to increase at least slightly as mail-ballots filter in the next couple days.
Biden got more than 82 percent of the vote, while President Trump got over 15 percent.

Other Democratic nominees rolled in the city, with incumbent U.S. Sen. Ed Markey also getting more than 82 percent and U.S. Reps. Ayanna Pressley (87 percent) and Stephen Lynch (84 percent) winning in blowouts.
Boston broke big for Question 1. Nearly 75 percent of voters supported the expanded "Right to Repair" law, which saw more money pour into it than any in state history.

The closest vote by far was the ballot initiative on ranked-choice voting. Sixty-one percent of voters supported it, but the push failed to gain similar support around the state.
