BOSTON — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took to Twitter Tuesday to mourn the closing of Eastern Standard, the Kenmore Square mainstay that was the latest in a long line of restaurants to close during the coronavirus pandemic.

“No! Please don’t be so – Eastern Standard was such an incredible place and home to so many wonderful memories,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a post on the social media platform.

Ocasio-Cortez graduated from Boston University in 2011. After graduation she worked as an activist and bartender in New York City before scoring an upset victory over an incumbent Congressman in the Democratic primary in 2018. She went on to win the general election and has been one of the higher-profile members of Congress ever since.
