Today is Tuesday, Sept. 8. Here are some of the top stories we are covering.

Two breweries down the street from each other in Everett closed after a customer went "bar hopping" while awaiting results of a coronavirus test. The customer was later found to be positive for COVID-19.

In a statement on its Instagram page, the Bone Up Brewing team said they were informed Monday that a member of a group in attendance the day before had tested positive for the virus. The brewery shut down and underwent a cleaning. Staff members got tested for the coronavirus, and the team informed all nearby groups of the positive test.

One step forward, two steps back.

That's how many advocating for the replacement of Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples' Day viewed the Melrose School Committee's recent decision to observe both this October. Instead of following the growing number of communities that have eradicated Columbus Day, the committee took the unusual step of co-branding the holiday.

For many who have spent years fighting to blot out the whitewashed legacy of Christopher Columbus, it was received as a painful reminder of his atrocities — a placating half-measure that did little to address the plight suffered by Indigenous peoples.

Cape Cod Coronavirus Outbreak Traces Back To Chatham Restaurant

The latest cluster of COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts was traced back to the popular Chatham Squire restaurant. At least seven employees at the restaurant tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Boston Herald.

The restaurant is temporarily closed for cleaning and alternated between being open and closed throughout the last week for similar reasons. The employees who are considered close contacts of those who tested positive have been advised to self-quarantine for 14 days.

All the positive cases identified were employees or staff members at the restaurant, not customers, according to the Boston Herald.

New Danvers Fire Chief Responds To 'Thin Blue Line' Flag Dispute

Newly appointed Danvers Fire Chief Robert Amerault addressed the "thin blue line" flag dispute in town this weekend with a statement saying that while firefighters do not believe the flags are a political statement, it is "easy" to see how some residents might considering the political nature of recent rallies.

He also joined Danvers Deputy Fire Chief Brian Barry, who is president of the local firefighters union, in strongly condemning the personal attacks and threats directed at Danvers Town Manager Steve Bartha, who ordered the flags removed from town fire apparatus two weeks ago.

"What I cannot wrap my brain around is the level of vitriol directed at the town manager," Chief Amerault posted on his Facebook account. "While I disagree with him on this issue, I can't condone the things that have been said, and threatened to be done towards he and his family, it is indefensible
