Boston Calling Asks Fans To 'Please Stand By' In Cryptic Tweet
The coronavirus canceled Boston's premiere music festival in 2020 and again in 2021. Or did it?

BOSTON —Music fans were holding out hope for Wednesday's announcement from organizers of the Boston Calling music festival — and hope that they may not have to wait until 2022 for the festival's return.
In February, organizers said they were canceling the event for a second straight year. At the time, they did not believe it would be safe to hold the three-day music festival over Memorial Day weekend. But the state will drop all coronavirus restrictions Saturday, giving hope that the festival may make its return sooner than the current date of Memorial Day weekend in 2022.
On Monday morning, organizers put out a cryptic tweet asking followers to "Please Stand By." The end of the video message flashes Wednesday's date, when organizers are cheduled to hold a news conference. The message does not offer any hints on what Wednesday's announcement may be.

Foo Fighters and Rage Against The Machine were scheduled to headline last year's festival. When organizers canceled the festival for 2021, they said 2021 tickets would be honored next year. Holders could also get a refund.
Boston Calling began in Boston in 2013 and drew crowds in the thousands even before it moved from its smaller space on Government Center Plaza in Boston. Since 2018, it's been held at the much larger area of the Harvard Athletic Complex, drawing an increasingly larger lineup and audience.
