Brazilian Top Team Wins at the New Hampshire NAGA Championship

Brazilian Top Team Wins at the 2021 New Hampshire NAGA Championship. BTT was 3rd out of 63 teams with 6 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors.

Brazilian Top Team (BTT) Wins at the 2021 New Hampshire NAGA Championship, on May 1st, at the Hampshire Dome in Milford, NH.

BTT was 3rd out of 63 teams with 6 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors.

The North American Grappling Association (NAGA) is the world’s largest mixed grappling tournament circuit with over 750,000 competitors worldwide. Shane Reddy, Angelo Fortes, Ed Tapia, Jose " Jay Jay" Atiles, Maria Iogansen, and Zach Danesh are all coming home with hardware. Each of them placed high enough in the tournament to earn, Brazilian Top Team, 3rd place out of 63 teams.

Shane Reddy was recently promoted to a, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, blue belt on March 3rd, 2021. Shane took 1st place in the Gi / Blue Belt / 150 - 159.9 (Light Weight) / Adult division and 4th place in the No-Gi / Intermediate / 150 - 159.9 (Light Weight) / Adult division. Reddy used a collar choke in the Gi, which put his opponent to sleep for the win.

Angelo Fortes is a, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, blue belt. Angelo took 1st place in the Gi / Blue Belt / 180 - 189.9 (Light Heavy Weight) / Adult division and 1st place in the Absolute Gi / 18 & Above / Blue Belt division. Angelo's defense was impassible and his offense was dominating.

Ed Tapia is a, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, purple belt. Ed took 1st place in the No-Gi / Expert / 190 - 199.9 (Cruiser Weight) / Director (40+) division, 2nd place in the Gi / Purple Belt / 190 - 199.9 (Cruiser Weight) / Director (40+) division and 3rd place in the Absolute Gi Men / 18 & Above / Purple Belt division.

Jose "Jay Jay" Atiles is a, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, purple belt. Jay Jay, age 33, competed in the, more competitive, Adult division to better challenge himself. Atiles ended up taking 2nd place in the Adult / No-Gi / Expert / 150 - 159.9 (Light Weight) division and 5th place in the Absolute No-Gi Men / 18 & Above / Expert division. Jose Atiles said, "No matter how hard the journey is, never stop believing in yourself, success is not given its earned. That's god's will."

Maria Iogansen, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, purple belt, said, "I didn’t know I would love competing and I am extremely proud to represent my team." Maria was moved up from the Fly Weight division to the 130 lbs- 139.9 lbs Masters / Purple Belt / Bantam Weight, division. Iogansen still took 1st place with a Win by Points, 4 to 2.

Zach Danesh, is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt. Zach took 1st place in the Men No-Gi / Expert / 170 - 179.9 (Middle Weight) / Master (30+) division and 2nd place in the Absolute No-Gi / 18 & Above / Expert division. Zach Danesh had this to say, "I'm lucky to be a part of the team, and feel like we're all in an atmosphere that will push us further."

Brazilian Top Team Boston (BTT Boston) is the New England headquarters for Brazilian Top Team and is led by Professor Daniel "Mirel" Gazoni. BTT Boston offers classes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, NoGi Grappling, Kickboxing, Capoeira, Judo, Yoga and Kids Taekwondo.
