Forty percent of cancer patients surveyed had difficulties paying medical bills, while twelve percent lowered the dose of prescription drugs to make them last longer. During the pandemic, things have only gotten worse with women making difficult choices between paying for medications and paying for food for their families. In a survey of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer patients, it was found that 1 in 10 patients couldn't afford food - and nutrition plays a critical role in wound healing and recovery from treatment.
