Gear Up For Bay State Bike Week 2016
Bay State Bike Week 2016 takes place from May 14 - 22.
Spring is finally in the air in New England, just in time for Bay State Bike Week, which takes place this year from May 14 – 22. The week looks to highlight bicycling as a healthy and safe alternative means of travel as hundreds of events have been planned across Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is organizing Bay State Bike Week, which was first launched eight years ago, and currently is the only statewide bike week in the country.
“With the warm weather finally here we are hoping that more people than ever will choose to get on their bikes to run errands, travel to work or school, or just have some fun,” said MassDOT Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack. “Bay State Bike Week will have many group events so people will have a chance to learn more about bike travel and safety even if they are not getting on a bike themselves.”

In addition to the planned events, residents are also invited to host gatherings in their local communities and celebrate in their own unique fashion. All registered participants will be eligible for a raffle and prizes provided by Bay State Bike Week sponsor, NuRide.
For those interested in biking events in their area, or are looking to reach out to other bike riders to organize a community party, should visit the Bay State Bike Week official webpage at baystatebikeweek.org for more information.
