Here's When Boston's Outdoor Dining Could Resume

Outdoor dining is finished through the winter, but restaurants will have the opportunity to bring it back for most of 2021.

Outdoor dining will resume in Boston on the other side of winter.

Mayor Marty Walsh said outdoor dining will start again in his city by April 1. City Hall is already accepting applications from restaurants.

"We saw the benefits outdoor dining can have on our neighborhoods, bringing vibrant streets to our community and fun experiences for restaurant-goers," Walsh told reporters Thursday.

Outdoor dining could begin earlier than April, if weather allows, and last until Dec. 1.

Even with a vaccine's arrival imminent, coronavirus restrictions — including dining ones — and mask-wearing could persist deep into 2021.
