DA Releases More Evidence In Police Shooting Of Mattapan Man

The Boston Globe, Patch and other media outlets "unfairly questioned" a report that cleared police officers who shot and killed a man in Chestnut Hill in February without considering all the evidence, the report's author said Thursday.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey released interview transcripts as well as video from police body cameras and witness cellphones backing the findings in his March report. Last month the Boston Globe reported it had reviewed body camera footage that contradicted the report's finding that police gave Juston Root, 41, a warning before they opened fire.

"The Globe prematurely and unfairly questioned the report's findings without having reviewed the full scope of the evidence," Morrissey said.

A search of a Kelley Square-area apartment was halted on Wednesday after police encountered what appeared to be bombs — but the devices turned out to be fake.

State and local police were searching an apartment at 85 Harding St. Wednesday rented by David Dolan, 38. Dolan, a suspected gang member, was linked to drug dealing activity in Worcester, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said.

Police saw what appeared to be a pipe bomb and a possible grenade in the apartment, according to MassLive. The apartment building was evacuated, and a state police bomb squad unit was called to the scene, according to the DA's office.
