BOSTON — A local news anchor lost her job after making a costumed appearance on Adam Sandler's new Netflix movie.

Now-former WHDH anchor Alaina Pinto on Thursday announced on Twitter she had been fired for appearing in "Hubie Halloween," which was filmed in Salem and released this month on the streaming service.

Pinto briefly plays an anchor on "Wake Up Boston," a fictional news show in the movie, where she talks about Halloween celebrations in Salem. She's dressed as Harley Quinn, a character from the Batman universe.

"In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me," Pinto tweeted. "I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped this would not be how things evolved."

Pinto thanked viewers and said she'll update people on the next chapter.
