MA Daily Coronavirus Cases Hit Record High
The 4,613 newly reported cases blows away the previous single-day mark set in April.

MASSACHUSETTS — The Department of Public Health on Wednesday released its most ominous daily coronavirus report in months, saying there were more than 4,600 newly reported cases of the virus and a seven-day positive test rate of nearly 5 percent.
The 4,613 cases easily eclipsed the previous high for a day, which was 3,079 in April.
The seven-day positive test rate rose to 4.94 percent.

There were 1,259 COVID-19 patients hospitalized across the state Wednesday — double the number just a few weeks ago. Of those hospitalized, 264 were in intensive care.
The state reported 46 more deaths related to the virus, bringing the total to at least 10,588.

Wednesday's report appears to be the first to show the potential damage done by Thanksgiving gatherings last week.
Gov. Charlie Baker said Tuesday the state is not considering new restrictions or lockdowns.
