Man Dies Days After Boston Moped Crash

Joseph Pielmeier, 30, had addresses in Boston, Somerville and Virginia.

BOSTON — A man who crashed his moped into a minivan in Forest Hills died Sunday, State Police said.

Joseph Pielmeier, 30, had addresses in Boston, Somerville and Virginia.

Police said he crashed Friday night when, according to witnesses, he drove through a red light and crashed into the side of a minivan at the intersection of South Street and the Arborway. Pielmeier was thrown from the moped and brought to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead Sunday.

The 30-year-old Milton man driving the minivan had the green light, police said. His 3-year-old daughter in the back seat suffered a bruised shoulder.

Police said they found empty and unopened alcoholic drinks as well as what appeared to be marijuana in a bag Pielmeier had been wearing.
