Massachusetts Expands Coronavirus Vaccination Effort: Patch PM

MASSACHUSETTS —It's Monday, January 25. Here's what Patch has been covering in Massachusetts today.
Massachusetts is opening five new vaccination sites and dozens of smaller sites across the state ahead of next week's move to begin offering the coronavirus vaccine to people over the age of 75.

With the new sites, the state will have the capacity to administer 242,000 vaccines per week, and 305,000 by mid-February. But the state does not expect to get that many doses from the federal government in coming weeks, Gov. Charlie Baker said at a news conference.

"We can only move as fast as the federal government ships vaccines to the Commonwealth," Baker said.

Charges In Belmont Hit-And-Run Upgraded To Murder
Middlesex District attorney Marian Ryan announced on Monday that Dean Kapsalis, 54 of Hudson, will face additional charges of murder and leaving the scene causing death in connection with striking and killing Henry Tapia in Belmont.
When the burglaries occurred, Stoughton police determined the suspect was a woman who entered the home under false pretenses. Police said the woman, later identified as Carla Darosa, went through great lengths to conceal her identity, but she had a very specific tattoo that was seen on home security footage.
