Mayor Walsh, Superintendent Chang Reject BLS Faculty Calls to Decline Recent Resignations
Boston Latin Headmaster Lynne Mooney Teta and Assistant Headmaster Malcolm Flynn resigned amid recent scandals
BOSTON – Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and school Superintendent Tommy Chang rejected calls from Boston Latin faculty to decline the resignations of the school's headmaster and assistant headmaster, WGBH reports.
BLS Headmaster Lynne Mooney Teta and Assistant Headmaster Malcolm Flynn resigned this week while federal and city probes investigate the handling of racially charged incidents at the school. Additionally, last week DigBoston published an investigation into the handling of one of the school's former special needs students.
The BLS faculty request came Thursday morning, prior to a meeting at the school with Chang and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.
