Meet the Boston Billionaires on Forbes' Fortune 400

Even in a city with some seriously wealthy people, these three are the richest of the rich.

BOSTON, MA — Three of Boston's wealthiest individuals live in the urban heart of the Bay State, and boast $13 billion between them.

The scary part? They're not even the richest in the state, let alone the country, according to the recently released Forbes 400, a list of the country's richest.

Meanwhile, here's Boston's, and how they ranked on the national list, according to Forbes:

  • No. 68 - Edward Johnson III, worth $7.1 billion, is the chairman of Fidelity. He graduated from Harvard.
  • No. 214 - Amos Hostetter Jr., worth $3.1 billion, "made a fortune in the 1990s as cable TV pioneer." He has degrees from Amherst and Harvard.
  • No. 374 - Phillip Ragon, of Boston, worth $1.8 billion, owns Cambridge-based InterSystems, which Forbes says sells software enabling hospitals and banks to analyze big data. Ragon graduated from nearby MIT.
