Most Highway Exit Numbers Are Changing Starting Next Month
Here's what all current exit numbers on Massachusetts highways will be converted to over the next year.

MASSACHUSETTS — The renumbering of exit signs across most Massachusetts highways will begin in October, the state Department of Transportation announced.
The project will switch current exit numbers to ones based on mileage, bringing the state in line with federal highway mandates. Massachusetts, Delaware and New Hampshire are the only three states to not have started work on converting to a mileage-based system.
Route-by-route changes will start in western Massachusetts and move east. Each route will be renumbered east to west or north to south.

The signs will keep their old exit numbers for at least two years as drivers get used to the change.
The work is expected to last into the summer, MassDOT said.
