Police Union Head On Leave After Assault Charge: Patch PM

The head of the Somerville police union was placed on unpaid leave after the Middlesex District Attorney's office charged him with assault this week. Officer Michael McGrath pepper-sprayed a person who was already in custody and posed no threat to him, the District Attorney's office said.

McGrath faces one count of one count of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. A criminal complaint was filed against him in Somerville District Court.

The Somerville Police Employees Association identifies McGrath as its president on its website. The union did not respond to a Patch request for comment.

2 Former eBay Employees Plead Guilty In Natick Cyberstalking Case

Two of the seven former eBay employees charged in a cyberstalking case involving a Natick couple have pleaded guilty, according to federal prosecutors.

Former eBay global intelligence manager Stephanie Popp, 32, and former eBay intelligence analyst, Veronica Zea, 26, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit cyberstalking and conspiracy to tamper with witnesses on Thursday, prosecutors said.

Former eBay employees James Baugh, David Harville and Phil Cooke are expected to plead guilty in late October.
