Where To Grab A Doughnut In Boston This Weekend
Apple cider, maple bacon and everything bagel are just a few of the doughnut flavors you can find at these Boston spots this weekend.

It’s always a good time for doughnuts, but they’re even better when they can be enjoyed with a hot cup of coffee on a crisp fall weekend like this coming one. Stop by one of Boston’s great doughnut shops this weekend for a classic glazed or for something a little more unique — you’ll find everything from sea salted bourbon caramel at Union Square Donuts to an everything bagel doughnut at Blackbird Doughnuts.
Union Square Donuts
Union Square Donuts is a wonderful shop with locations in Union Square in Somerville (the original) and Brookline. They’re known for their light and fluffy doughnuts and their wonderful flavors like maple bacon, brown butter hazelnut crunch, and sea salted bourbon caramel. I know from experience that these are worth waiting in line for on Sunday morning.

Blackbird Doughnuts
Blackbird Doughnuts is another Boston favorite. This shop started out in the South End and has since expanded, opening shops in the Fenway and most recently in Harvard Square. They have a great selection of cake doughnuts as well as the softer, raised style donuts — in flavors that range from triple chocolate cake to everything bagel. Blackbird also serves made-to-order doughnut ice cream sandwiches with your choice of a doughnut and chocolate or vanilla ice cream.

Kane’s
This spot was founded outside of Boston in Saugus, MA in 1955 and eventually expanded to Boston, adding a location in Downtown Crossing in 2015. Kane’s is known for its wide selection of doughnuts, with limited-edition flavors that change monthly. Some of their November flavors include cranberry fritter, pumpkin glazed, and carrot cake. Kane’s also has a selection of gluten-free doughnuts.

Red Apple Farm at Boston Public Market
If you’re looking for some apple cider doughnuts this weekend and you’re not up to driving out of the city to a nearby farm or orchard, you don’t have to. Stop by the Red Apple Farm stand inside Boston Public Market where they make their mini apple-cider doughnuts right on site. The smell makes them impossible to resist!

Harvest
This beloved Harvard Square restaurant has been doing themed doughnut pop-ups on their patio on the weekends, spearheaded by their talented Executive Pastry Chef Joshua Livsey. Harvest's most recent doughnut pop-up was Harry Potter themed, and featured flavors like Pumpkin Pasty, Golden Snitch, and Butter Beer. To stay posted on Harvest’s upcoming doughnut pop-ups, you can follow them on Instagram or Facebook for updates. Pro tip: get in line early because these can sell out fast!

Rise & Rumble Donut Throwdown Event
Last but not least, if you’re as much of a doughnut lover as I am, check out the Rise & Rumble Donut Throwdown this weekend. On Saturday at Post 390, local pastry chefs will be making their best doughnuts and competing for a chance to be named this year’s Rise & Rumble Champion. Tickets are available for $35 on Eventbrite and include doughnuts from the attending pastry chefs, and Post 390’s brunch buffet and coffee and espresso bar.
