BRAINTREE, MA — Town officials will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day a little early by honoring two residents for their work in the community. At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Braintree will award Ann Toland and Pat Conrad as "Martin Luther King Jr. Braintree Citizens of the Year."

Both Toland and Conrad, lifelong Braintree residents, are being honored for their work with the Marge Crispin Center, which helps residents in need find shelter, care, food and other resources. Mayor Charles Kokoros will honor them with a ceremony at Town Hall.

"It is an honor to choose this year’s recipients," Kokoros said. "Ann and Pat represent exactly what it means to be a selfless, hardworking citizen, and have always put other’s best interest before their own. When it came time to honor the 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Braintree Citizen of the Year, I knew I couldn’t pick just one. Both Ann and Pat are equally deserving of this distinct honor given all of the amazing work they have done for the residents in our community.”
