28 Percent Of Braintree Residents Received Coronavirus Vaccine

Seventy-eight percent of those 75+ have received at least one dose, while 56 percent of them are fully vaccinated.

BRAINTREE, MA — About 28 percent of the town's nearly 39,700 residents have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to new state data released Thursday.

The state's vaccine rollout prioritizing the most vulnerable residents is bearing fruit in Braintree, where those 65 or older have received the most vaccinations despite making up just 17 percent of the town's population. Seventy-eight percent of those 75+ have received at least one dose, while 56 percent of them are fully vaccinated.

Seventy percent of those 65-74 have received at least one dose while 19 percent are fully vaccinated.

Overall, 11,250 of 39,657 residents in Braintree have received at least one dose and 5,922 are fully vaccinated.

The Department of Public Health also released town-by-town coronavirus metrics, which showed continued improvement in Braintree.

The positive test rate fell from 3.27 percent to 3.08 percent, while the average daily incidence rate per 100,000 was 21.4

There were 119 confirmed cases in the past two weeks, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 3,612.
