In the past, the Braintree Historical Society's program director lived in the home on Washington Street.
The home's most famous resident was Asa French, a civil engineer who opened Braintree's first post office in 1825. Built by Thomas French in 1699, it is one of the town's oldest homes.
More recently, in 2011, Sandy the Goat took up residence with former Braintree Historical Society Program Director Norah Kyle.
Today the Asa French House at 766 Washington St. is listed as a rental property, going for $2,300 per month for four bedrooms and two bathrooms, according to NewEnglandMoves.com.

The house is owned by the historical society and is 3,500 square feet on 0.476 acres. Its total value, including land and extra features, is $557,200, according to records kept by Patriot Properties.
Short distance to the T, shopping and dining are listed as features on the rental listing, along with full appliances, original floors, a galley kitchen and recent upgrades to heat and central air.
