Braintree Could Get Up To 8 Inches Of Snow

Greater Boston can expect to see snow start falling late Thursday afternoon, and it's not likely to stop until Friday evening.

BRAINTREE, MA —There's more snow heading to Braintree today and Friday.

Forecasters say snow is likely to start sticking late Thursday afternoon and continue falling through Friday leaving Braintree with as much as 8 inches of accumulation by Friday night.

National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at noon today until 7 p.m. Feb. 19.

"By Friday night, light snow will finally come to end across Southern New England, followed by drying northwest winds," according to NBC10 Boston meteorologist Aaron Perry. "When all is said and done Saturday morning, we will likely see a regionwide 3 to 6" with higher amounts of 7 to 8" possible across Eastern Mass. due to ocean-effect snow bands."

Local restrictions

Braintree declared a snow emergency, lasting until 11:59 p.m., Friday. During this time period, there will be no on-street parking allowed on any public road.

Parking ban

There is an on-street parking ban in place. Off-street lots can be used at:

  • Smith Beech Parking Lot
  • Sunset Lake
  • Braintree Golf Course

Trash collection

Trash pickup has not changed, as of 1 p.m., Thursday

School

As of 1 p.m., Monday, the school district has not announced any measures in response to the storm.
