Braintree Developer Plans $18M Project at SouthField

The plan is for 72 units at the former Naval Air Station.

Real estate developer John M. Corcoran and Co. of Braintree will begin construction later this month on an $18 million apartment complex at the former Naval Air Station in South Weymouth.

The project will join other retail and residential developments at the 1,400-acre SouthField site, according to a report Monday in the Boston Business Journal.

The Journal reports that Corcoran's planned 72 units will be part of phase two of the Commons at SouthField Highlands. Studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments will be available. Amenities include a saltwater swimming pool, sundeck, fitness center and game room.
