Braintree Holding Rally For 2 Injured Officers, Slain Police Dog
Organizers said they'll collect get-well and thank you cards for Braintree police officers William Cushing Jr. and Matthew Donaghue.

BRAINTREE, MA — The Braintree community will rally around two police officers who were injured in a shooting and pay condolences to their police dog that was shot and killed.
Community members organized the "Shine Braintree Blue" event, and it's scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the town hall.
Organizers said they'll collect get-well and thank you cards for officers William Cushing Jr. and Matthew Donaghue from anyone that wants to drop one off. They will be sent to the Braintree Police Department. Posters will also be available for people to sign and offer words of support.

Cushing and Donaghue both were injured with multiple gunshot wounds Friday while responding to a domestic situation at the Braintree Village apartments.
Cushing's K-9 partner, Kitt died after also getting shot during the incident. Kitt served with Braintree police for 12 years.

Authorities identified the suspect as Andrew Homen, 34, of Brockton. Homen was shot-and-killed after ambushing the officers in the woods, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.
