Braintree Man Killed In Mass Pike Crash
A 66-year-old Braintree man died during a head-on collision between his SUV and a box truck on the Massachusetts Turnpike.
BRAINTREE, MA — A Braintree man died and a Rhode Island man was critically injured after a head-on collision Wednesday morning along a Massachusetts Turnpike ramp in Millbury. Massachusetts State Police identified the deceased as Richard Nichols, 66.
The crash happened just before 9:30 a.m. along the Route 20 connector to the Mass Pike. State police said Nicholas was driving an SUV when the vehicle crossed over a median dividing two lanes and hit a box truck head-on, according to state police.
The box truck driver, a 53-year-old man from North Providence, Rhode Island, was airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with life-threatening injuries. State police said Nichols died at the scene.

State police are still investigating what caused the SUV to collide with the box truck.
