Braintree Police Warn Of Phone Scammers Posing As Officers

Police said the scammer claimed to be a Braintree officer and requested money to clear people's warrants.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree police warned residents to watch out for a scammer posing as an officer to steal residents' money.

Police said on three occasions, a scammer calling from 781-806-4056 posed as an officer and told people they needed to send money to clear their warrants. The scammer has a strong southern drawl, police said.

"None of our officers sound like they’re from the Deep South. We have a hard enough time pronouncing our 'Rs,' police said in a Facebook post.
