Braintree Storm Hub: Parking Ban in Effect
The National Weather Service says five to nine inches of snow could fall in Braintree.

BRAINTREE, MA — A snowstorm is expected to drop up to nine inches of snow on Braintree Friday.
Due to the weather, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning. The warning is issued by the NWS when an average of six or more inches of snow is expected in a 12-hour period, or eight or more inches in a 24-hour period.

Here’s what to expect according to the National Weather Service:
Friday: Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 8 a.m. Patchy fog. High near 33. North wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of five to nine inches possible.

Friday Night: chance of snow before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 14. Northwest wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
CLOSINGS
The Braintree Public Schools, Thayer Academy, and Archbishop Williams are all closed today.
PARKING BAN
Early Friday morning, the Braintree Police Department announced that there will be no street parking from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Any vehicle that interferes with snow removal will be towed. The municipal lots are open for use.
