Braintree Town Councilor Boericke Announces Re-Election Bid

Meredith Boericke was elected to the council in November 2019, and she said she's most proud of keeping her commitment to resident outreach.

BRAINTREE, MA — District 5 Town Councilor Meredith Boericke said she's running for re-election when Braintree voters hit the polls this fall.

Boericke was first elected to the Town Council in November 2019, and she said she's most proud of keeping her commitment to resident outreach by hosting several community meetings over the last two years. Meeting topics ranged from the coronavirus pandemic to condominium development. Boericke was also honored by the Braintree Partnership with a communnity hero award for inclusive leadership.

"As I reflect on my first term spent working for and with the residents of District 5, one of the things I know for certain is how much I love this work," Boericke said in a statement. "Whether it's advocating for a railroad quiet zone or a crosswalk, I am excited to continue the great work we've started, and I look forward to all that lies ahead. Representing the residents of District 5 is a privilege and a pleasure, and I am dedicated to leading by collaborating with, listening to and communicating with my constituents."

Boericke highlighted several other accomplishments, including urging the state to address hazardous conditions along Grove Street and requiring National Grid to expand resident notifications beyond its immediate construction zone

"My work is an extension of the great ideas and valid concerns of my constituents," Boericke said. "I listen, I learn, and then I seek solutions."

Outside town government, Boericke spent several years in the private sector, working in business management and community outreach. She spent 13 years working in senior management roles at Dunkin Brands and now works in management at Eversource Energy.

The Braintree town election is Nov. 2. Residents have until Oct. 13 to register to vote in the election.
