Braintree Mayor Declares Snow Emergency; 12-18 Inches of Snow Expected

Braintree is under a Winter Storm Warning until 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

BRAINTREE, MA — If you were hoping that Friday's show would be the last of the winter weather for this weekend, you might not want to look outside starting Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Braintree and Norfolk County. Residents should expect snow to develop in the morning and spread across the region Saturday afternoon and evening, before tapering off overnight, according to the NWS. During the storm, the area could see 12-18 inches of snow.

Winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected.

The warning is in effect from 7 a.m. Saturday morning to 1 a.m. early Sunday morning.

A Winter Storm Warning is issued when there is a chance for at least 6 inches of snow in a 12-hour period or over 8 inches in a 24-hour period.

Due to the snow, Mayor Joe Sullivan has declared an on-street parking ban in Braintree. The ban is in effect until further notice. Parking is available at the Municipal, Sunset, and Watson Park lots.
