Braintree's Monica Spain Makes Assumption College Basketball Team

Braintree's Monica Spain, a three-time all-star at Archbishop Williams, made the women's basketball team at Assumption College.

WORCESTER, MA — An All Scholastic Braintree athlete is getting a chance to play basketball at the collegiate level after making the Assumption College women's basketball team. Monica Spain played her high school years at Archbishop Williams High School and will now try to help the Greyhounds compete in the Division 2 Northeast Division.

During Spain's senior year at Archbishop Williams, the 5-foot, 11-inch point guard averaged 10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals per game. She helped lead the Bishops to a 19-4 record and the state semifinals. She was a part of three state championships and was a three-time Catholic Central League All-Star.
