Late Night Service Coming To South Shore Commuter Rail Lines
Catching a Red Sox game or concert is going to be easier for South Shore residents starting in the fall.

BRAINTREE, MA — The South Shore commuter rail trains soon will no longer stop running before every other MBTA commuter rail line. The Kingston/Plymouth, Greenbush, and Lakeville/Middleboro lines are getting extended service starting in the Fall, MBTA Advisory Board announced at its meeting Monday.
No exact implementation date was announced, but once late night service is running, the last South Shore trains will leave Boston at 11:20 p.m. everyday at the earliest. If you want to catch a concert, Red Sox game, or just work later hours, the commuter rail is going to become an option. Currently, the latest any of these lines leave South Station is 10:40 p.m., while Greenbush passengers need to be on the last train by 10 p.m.
In a short presentation from MBTA general Manager Steve Poftak, highlighted the new hours for each commuter rail line. The last train for each line are:

"It's not increasing the number of trains and we are going to do this on a conditional schedule change basis, Poftak said. "We will review it in a year to see if the assumptions around ridership have held up."
