MBTA Could Rescind Braintree Train Station Parking Hike

Maybe the daily parking rate isn't going up to $10.

BRAINTREE, MA — The MBTA is giving the recently announced parking price hike for the garages at the Braintree and Quincy Adams a second look.

Officials told the Boston Globe Monday that they may rescind the recently approved $10 daily parking rates at the two Red Line stops. The $3 increase was expected to go into effect Aug. 1.

MBTA General Manager Luis Ramirez, while not saying there would be a decrease, hinted at an announcement next week.

The rate reconsideration comes following meeting with South Shore officials.

The new prices were widely criticized, especially on the Braintree part of the Red Line, where delays have been routine, construction has taken away parking spots, Wollaston is closed through 2019 due to construction, and a development is expected to take 500 spots from North Quincy.
